Term end Exams

In the foreign system of education as well, you will have Term end exams at the end of semester which carries usually the weightage of around 60% of total marks.

Let me tel you the truth, Exam week just arrives to your way before you realise that days are still there. The Hardwork with good time management decides the success in the exam. Its always advisable to keep revising time to time with ongoing class schedules, ofcourse you cannot miss the classes as conditions apply here...as Condition says - 80% attendance compulsory to sit for exams :-).Good Relations with your peers, faculty and ofcourse with your seniors would become plus and is the great help for the exams and your course works.. ..So start networking with people is important for else where you go...:P

As far as my experience, I would say Singapore system of education is abit strict unlike our indian system of education and everywhere  you were required to follow the rules and infact you see many rules in the Hostels as well :-) Good Relations with your peers, faculty and ofcourse with your seniors would become plus and is the great help for the exams ..

Assignments - "No copy n paste please "

Assignments were given weightage of around 40% in the total marks.Students should be of extra cautious of following the Harvard referencing style and Should be Plagarism free.

Plagiarism is a form of cheating as because it's stealing another person's ideas. It  is when you use someone else's words or ideas and pass them off as your own. It's not allowed in school, college, or beyond, so it's a good idea to learn the proper way to use resources, such as websites, books, and magazines.

The best way is to paraphrase the matter, rather than copying and pasting as it is in the assignments. The percentage of how much plagarism is involved in the assignment is being checked thru Turntin software. No need to panic much from the first day of the school as days goes along with it - can be learned easily.

Assignment is prepared by referring to books, magazines, online materials . Word to Word switch is not allowed, instead like I said above the student can paraphrase it.

After BTech: Start working or study further?

After BTech: Start working or study further?

You decide one fine morning during your fifth semester that you are going to do MS in US after engineering and start preparing for GRE. After a few days you see some of your friends preparing for the M.Tech entrance exam – Graduate Aptitude Test in Engineering (GATE). Now you decide to the idea of GRE and start preparing for GATE. Never do this. It may not take you anywhere and finally you may end up losing a year or so, after engineering due to your indecision.
If you plan to do higher studies after engineering, there are ample opportunities available in India and abroad. In India you need to write GATE to be eligible to do higher studies. If you want to do your M.Tech in premier institutes like IISc or IITs then you need to at least get a rank lower than 500. If you want to do higher studies in the US then you need to write two exams, Graduate Records Exam (GRE) and TOEFL, and then have to apply to the Universities in the US which is a comprehensive process.
A student joining engineering must understand that there are so many areas of specialisation available for each branch of engineering. If you major in Mechanical Engineering you can choose to specialise in thermal engineering, machine design, manufacturing, industrial engineering or aerospace engineering etc. Similarly if you have a Bachelor’s in Civil Engineering you can specialise in Structural Engineering or Geotechnical Engineering or Environmental Engineering or Water Resource Engineering or Construction Management or Sustainable Engineering and so many other fields. This is true with any branch of engineering.

If you aim for a job in the private sector after your engineering your best bet will be campus placement. Know the selection process of the companies that may potentially come for campus placement by the sixth semester and start preparing so that you can easily get recruited in the company of your choice. There are two kinds of companies that come to campus for recruitment – core companies that hire students only from a particular branch of engineering and others (mostly software companies) that allow all the graduating students to appear for the selection process.

So there are ample opportunities available for engineering graduates. The key is selecting a rourse that you love or loving the course you select, and knowing the various possibilities each branch has to offer. Decide by the third year of engineering what you want to do after engineering and work towards achieving that goal. If you do all these things judiciously then you are sure to land up in a good position after your engineering.

Days just goes on!!

Days just passing on and its already one month in Singapore now...Classes going on its schedule..its nice experience to see my self as Student again after 5 years of busy worklife at india... :) However would feel still there is so much work to do like Courseworks,Revisions etc...Foreign degrees obviously follows the Practical oriented study system where we can't copy word to word in our courseworks , this is to enable the student to study the books and do the research on his own and have to prepare the coursework.Word to word copying is not allowed from any books /online..Which in other way named as Plagarism and its not allowed as per the University policy it is considered as indisciplinary actions ,I will post more this part in my future posts.

Its So colouring outside especially during nights :)..if you are a Party guy its nice place to hang around... But Climate really sucks...unlike Bangalore, where we enjoy awesome climate..Singapore sits almost on the equator and enjoys a tropical climate. Temperatures are hot and humidity is high all year round with no distinct rainy season. Despite this the time between November and January has marginally more rainfall and humidity all the time....so visitors might want to avoid this time.

Before you come for Foreign studies at abroad for  management degree , You should plan before 1 year ahead on the factors like
1)University Selection
2)Cost of living
3)Who are the faculty for that university
4)Which country are you chosing and Are their enough jobs in that country and whatz  the scope for indians to get jobs
